We aspire to transform 'Mushq Budj' into a periodical publication, initially released in electronic format, with the ultimate goal of establishing it as a self-sustaining print magazine. Our vision extends beyond traditional printed content, as we plan to incorporate audio-visual elements in the future, Insha Allah.

Mushq Budj encompasses a diverse range of content. Primarily, and initially, functioning as a newsletter for The Khanqah, it also features contributions from various writers and artists. We encourage you to make Mushq Budj your personal magazine by generating your own content. Explore topics of interest, spanning from fashion and beauty to travel and news, from food and recreation to knowledge and education, and from science and politics to religion and culture.

Submission Guidelines

"Mushq Budj" is a platform that embraces the diversity of academic and creative expressions. We invite submissions from scholars, writers, and artists, experienced or inexperienced, exploring a wide array of topics, fostering an inclusive space for intellectual discourse.

Vision:

Mushq Budj celebrates the synergy between scholarly depth and vibrant, accessible writing. We value contributions that transcend technical jargon, encouraging original thought. Our focus is on constructing, rather than merely critiquing, ideas that engage a broad audience. Your submissions to "Mushq Budj" would go through a thorough editorial process aimed at enhancing the readability and relevance of our content for a diverse audience, this may involve requests for revisions and editing, including reviews by seasoned scholars. This process reflects our dedication to maintaining a high standard of quality and making intellectual engagement accessible to a broad readership. Academic responses and critiques, including to our own ideals, are accepted and encouraged.

What We Publish:

We publish in-depth articles for sustained exploration, shorter essays/opinions pieces reflecting on a single idea, essays inspired by reading, reviewing, offering a personal perspective, responses and critiques to any of our publications etc. We welcome prose, poetry, fiction, non-fiction, photos, paintings, calligraphy, sketches, videos, audios, music, and more. Submissions can vary in length, and longer pieces may be published in parts.

Submission Process:

Send queries to editor@mushqbudj.com; completed drafts are discouraged. When querying, succinctly outline your argument or the questions you aim to explore in under 700 words. Emphasize the connection of your article to contemporary issues and its relevance to a broad audience, with special attention to its scholarly underpinning.
We consider self-published and unpublished works in only English, Kashmiri, Urdu or Hindi.
Include your biography in under 100 words and contact information. Previous published work examples are encouraged.
If you do not receive a response in 14 days, feel free to submit the piece to other publications.

Publication Standards:

All submissions must adhere to legal standards in India, the UK, and the US. While not all submissions may make it into the print version (or the e-magazine), everything finds a place on our website i.e. we publish everything we receive. We prioritize quality for the print edition. There are no strict length constraints.

In the spirit of fostering original ideas and insightful reasoning, "Mushq Budj" acknowledges that exceptional contributions may occasionally arrive with construction challenges. Should we encounter a submission with profound reasoning but lacking in academic finesse, we extend the offer to collaboratively refine it. With utmost respect for the author's originality, we may, with their permission, engage in a comprehensive rewrite, solely focusing on enhancing readability. Importantly, this process involves rephrasing without introducing new arguments or subtracting any original ideas.

Contributors to "Mushq Budj" will receive due recognition and may be eligible for an honorarium.
